Apple's Base iPad Now Has Double the Storage
Apple's new iPad (11th generation) review: performance upgrade, but AI features are missing
After more than two years, Apple finally updated its entry-level iPad. While the entire iPad product line is still a bit confusing, the latest 11th-generation iPad doubles storage space while maintaining its original price, but it also lacks an important feature set.
Apple today released the new iPad Air equipped with a powerful M3 chip and a new Magic Control keyboard, and focused on its AI capabilities. However, the company also quietly updated its entry-level iPad. If you're looking for an affordable iPad, the 11th-generation model that will be available next week may be exactly what you're looking for.
Interestingly, the new entry-level iPad has a nice upgrade, but unlike nearly every other Apple product released recently, it lacks AI capabilities. It's still a nice upgrade, with lots of praise to you, but if you want to use AI features on your iPad, this iPad isn't for you.
New iPad (11th generation)
According to expectations, we are seeing a comprehensive subtle change. With the same design as the previous generation model, this new iPad supports USB-C charging and will be an excellent entry-level tablet.
The new 11th-generation iPad (2025) is now equipped with the updated A16 chipset instead of the old A14 bionic chip. According to Apple's press release, it will be more than 30% faster than the previous generation, while users who upgrade from older iPad models will see a 50% or even greater increase. Basically, this new entry-level iPad is more powerful and faster than ever.
While the iPad still uses the same 10.9-inch screen as before (although it is marked as 11-inch on Apple's website), as an entry-level model, it does not have the features of a more advanced anti-glare coating, an upgraded camera, a face ID or other more expensive models. But that doesn't matter. This iPad still integrates a Touch ID in the power button, with nice bezels around the display, and a USB-C charging port.
Basically, it's still the same iPad we're familiar with. It's just now that it provides more storage space and lacks AI capabilities. Honestly, this may be an advantage, not a disadvantage for some buyers.
iPad (11th generation) Main features
The 11th-generation iPad is a colorful and versatile tablet with a 10.9-inch Liquid retina display, a powerful new A16 chip, and now doubles storage space. It also has a landscape 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle front camera and supports Apple Pencil, Magic Keyboard Protection Case and 5G Connectivity.
More importantly, as mentioned above, the "initial storage space doubled" of entry-level iPad models, but the price remains the same. This means the entry-level 128GB iPad is priced at $349, the 256GB version is priced at $449, and the 512GB version is priced at $649. While this is good news for consumers, it was originally a change that Apple should have made a few years ago. In addition, the educational discount price is only $329.
The latest entry-level iPad (11th generation) is available in a variety of color options including blue, pink, silver and yellow. It is now available for pre-order and will be shipped on March 12.
