Microsoft Flip-Flops Its Way Into a Native Copilot App
Microsoft finally delivers a native Windows 11 Copilot app after numerous delays. Currently available to Windows Insiders, a wider release is expected in the coming weeks or months.

Copilot on Windows Lacks "Think Deeper" Mode
Microsoft confirmed that the new Windows Copilot app currently omits the "Think Deeper" mode.
Microsoft's journey with Windows 11 Copilot has been a rollercoaster. Initially deeply integrated, it became a basic web wrapper, then was incorrectly touted as a native app (still a web wrapper). This latest iteration, however, is finally a native XAML application.
This fourth or fifth iteration (precise count lost to history) promises improved responsiveness and reduced RAM usage, though real-world performance remains to be seen.

The app boasts a visually appealing design, similar to the macOS version, featuring gradients and dimensional effects. Deep Windows integration allows querying PC hardware and Windows version, though system setting modification capabilities are unconfirmed.
Interestingly, the macOS Copilot app, released a week earlier, achieved native status before the Windows version. This highlights Microsoft's sometimes unpredictable cross-platform release strategy.
The new Windows Copilot (version 1.25023.101.0) retains core features: chat history saving, voice mode, Alt Space hotkey activation (or Copilot key on compatible PCs), and a boot-up disabling option. However, the "Think Deeper" mode, present in the macOS version, is absent. Microsoft stated it's not currently available and offered no roadmap details.
