The Toran Lake dungeon in Suikoden presents a significant challenge, especially early in the game. Your party is pre-determined, and resources are limited. Reaching Toran Castle

After leaving Kwaba, travel to Kaku (southwest of Seika). Inside the building marked with a wine bottle and glass, recruit Camille. Before recruiting Tai Ho in the basement, save your game at the inn. Tai Ho's gambling minigame is luck-based; reload if necessary.

Once Tai Ho joins, you'll be at Toran Castle. However, Camille and Tai Ho are poorly equipped. Return to Kaku by boat, upgrade their weapons and armor, and purchase ample medicine. Each party member needs their own supply. Acquire Guard Robes (Kaku armor shop) for increased magic defense, equip the Clone Orb on Viktor, and the Fire Rune on Cleo.

Navigating the Toran Lake Dungeon

All unclaimed treasure is lost upon dungeon completion. Collect everything!

Before entering the castle, grab the Mega Medicine (chest south of the entrance). In the first room, find Toe Shoes (chest along the south edge of the water).

The second room contains two chests: antitoxin (north) and 2,000 Potch (south). Proceed to a room with three chests: STR Rune Piece (southwest), Pointy Hat (north), and medicine (southeast).

The top floor offers a save point and an additional antitoxin chest. Go through the hallway, up the stairs, and right. Two seemingly inaccessible chests await:

The southwest chest (Fuzzy Rune) requires navigating a hidden path: walk into the wall above the chest, go down, left, down, right, up, right, down, left. The northeast chest (Wind Orb) is accessed by simply walking through the wall. Exit southeast to reach the castle and descend the stairs. Heal before the boss fight. Distribute items evenly, especially medicine. Consider giving Viktor extra medicine due to the Clone Orb's healing capabilities.

Boss: Zombie Dragon

The Zombie Dragon uses a lunging attack (single target, high damage) and a fire breath attack (all party members). Guard Robes significantly mitigate fire breath damage. Prioritize regular healing; if a character nears half health, heal immediately. If fire breath is frequent and medicine is low, consider retreating to Kaku to replenish supplies rather than grinding. Poor equipment makes this fight extremely difficult.
