New AMD Ryzen 3D V-Cache CPUs Are Coming Soon

AMD's groundbreaking 3D V-Cache technology continues to redefine CPU performance. Despite not being fully integrated across all CPU generations, its inclusion in the upcoming Ryzen 9 9900X3D and 9950X3D processors promises a significant leap forward, potentially reclaiming AMD's top spot in the CPU market. These powerful processors officially launch next week, on March 12th.

Built on AMD's cutting-edge Zen 5 architecture, the Ryzen 9 9900X3D and 9950X3D are enhanced versions of the Ryzen 9 9900X and 9950X, respectively. The key difference? The inclusion of 3D V-Cache, which triples the L3 cache capacity. This substantial increase in L3 cache significantly improves performance by acting as a high-speed buffer for frequently accessed data. Data retrieval from the L3 cache is drastically faster than from RAM, leading to quicker load times and smoother gameplay. This is especially beneficial for gaming, where data is constantly accessed and re-accessed.

The Ryzen 9 9900X3D, a 12-core, 24-thread processor, will retail for $599. The higher-end Ryzen 9 9950X3D boasts 16 cores and 32 threads, making it ideal for both demanding applications and gaming, but at a premium price of $699. While expensive, this cost is relatively modest compared to high-end GPUs.

A limited release in China has already occurred, but the global launch is set for March 12th. Early reviews are expected on March 11th, providing valuable insights into the performance of these exciting new processors.
