In Split Fiction's third chapter, "Hopes of Spring," shape-shifting abilities are key to navigating the environment and solving puzzles. Mio can transform into a powerful gorilla for strength or an aquatic creature (let's call it an otter-fish-dog hybrid) for swimming, while Zoe can become a nimble fairy or manipulate the forest as a tree.
To unlock the door guarded by three bird eggs, a coordinated effort is required. Zoe must take on her tree form, while Mio transforms into a gorilla. The solution, while effective, isn't exactly bird-friendly. (Apologies, little feathered friends!)
This puzzle doesn't award the "One Bird, Three Stones" trophy/achievement; that's earned later in "Hopes of Spring," as detailed in our complete Achievements/Trophies guide.
Solving the Bird Puzzle
In the "Lord Evergreen" area of Split Fiction's "Hopes of Spring" (following the Train Heist Side Story), you'll find a collection of seemingly interconnected tools. This includes three birds (one partially hatched), a seesaw, a large tree trunk, and a locked door disguised as a boarded-up tree cavern. The goal: open the door.
First, Mio should become an ape, and Zoe should transform into a tree. Zoe's task is straightforward (though timing-sensitive): as a tree, she must pull the log back as far as possible and hold it. Mio's role involves picking up any egg and placing it on the seesaw, specifically on the side closest to the log and the door (the "middle" side from the entrance).
Mio then moves to the opposite side of the seesaw and uses her gorilla strength to slam down, launching the egg upward. If Zoe releases the log at precisely the right moment, it will swing forward, smashing the door and fully hatching the bird in the process. Don't worry, there's no penalty for mistiming the release; simply reset and try again.
Once the door is open, you can proceed, but there's more bird-related action to come if you aim for all the achievements/trophies.
