Microsoft Edge Android version officially supports extensions, and 22 practical tools are now available in the extension store!

Although Microsoft began testing the extension features for Edge Android as early as January 2024 (originally on the Canary channel and has been updated to the stable version of v134.0.3124.57), the extension store is still in beta testing.

Currently, the store provides 22 extensions, and more will be added in the future. These extensions are provided by Microsoft, and their security and reliability are much higher than those of other non-official extensions in Android browsers.

The store covers a variety of utility tools, some of which are mobile versions of popular Microsoft Edge desktop extensions. Here is a list of all currently available extensions:

  • Tampermonkey
  • Dark Reader
  • Browsec VPN

Installing an extension on Edge Android is very simple:

  1. Download the latest version of the Edge browser app from the Play Store.

  3. Select the Extension icon.
  4. Scroll through the list and click "Get" next to the desired extension.
  5. Click "Add" to confirm the installation.

You can also manage installed extensions in the Extensions menu. The Installed section shows all current extensions that you can enable or disable, even use in InPrivate browsing mode. To delete an extension, simply select Delete from the menu.

The method of using an extension is similar to the installation steps. After clicking "Extensions" in the menu, you will see a list of available extensions. Click "Manage Extensions" to view the list of all extensions.

The launch of the Edge Android extension store is a major improvement in the browser experience, providing users with a more personalized and powerful browsing experience. As Microsoft continues to add more extensions and improve existing extensions, Edge may become a more attractive option for Android users. This is undoubtedly a strong competition for Google, which has always supported Chrome extensions.
