Unlocking Bartering

Atelier Yumia features four main regions, each with its own merchants, unlocked separately by progressing your "Pioneering Efforts." This story element will be introduced later in the game by the Research Team's commander.

Pioneering Efforts reward you for every 10% completion. These rewards include new materials and ammo, but most importantly for this guide, they unlock merchants in the corresponding region. Note that unlocking a merchant doesn't grant access to all their goods; more merchants and items become available as you further progress Pioneering Efforts.

How Bartering Works

Once unlocked, locate the merchants (usually at the Research Team Base or regional villages). Approach their displayed goods and interact with them (the button prompt might require some slight movement).

A point-based system determines trades. Ingredients are displayed, some marked as "Recommended." Select an item; the right side of the screen shows possible trades. Manipulate the points system (central screen tally) to reach the maximum value for a successful trade. Be mindful of what you trade, as vital synthesis ingredients may be involved. Traded items are sold out until further notice, so treat undiscovered ingredients as limited.
