Is Assassin's Creed Shadows Multiplayer?

In Assassin’s Creed Shadows you’ll be switching between two characters—Naoe, the stealthy shinobi, and Yasuke, the heavy-hitting samurai—but it’s all you. No one else is joining in. Just you, the story, and a very large list of targets to take down.

To be more direct, no, Assassin’s Creed Shadows does not have multiplayer. Not co-op, not PvP, not even a random shared-world feature where you spot other players running around pretending to be ninjas. It’s a 100% single-player experience.

But What About Past Assassin’s Creed Games?

If you’re wondering, “Didn’t some of these games have multiplayer?” — you’re right.

  • Assassin’s Creed Unity had co-op.

  • Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and a few others had PvP modes.

  • And Assassin’s Creed Valhalla had online features like community challenges and a river raid thing that kind of felt multiplayer, but wasn’t.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows skips all of that. Ubisoft decided to focus fully on single-player gameplay, with a big open world and two distinct playstyles, rather than trying to force in a multiplayer mode just for the sake of it.

Will They Add Multiplayer Later?

There’s no sign of it. No announcements, no hints, and no secret plans (at least none that Ubisoft is sharing). Based on how they’re promoting Shadows, it looks like they’re happy to keep it a solo adventure from start to finish.

Final Blurb

If you were hoping to team up with friends in feudal Japan, Assassin’s Creed Shadows isn’t that kind of game. It’s just you—stealthing, slicing, and looting your way through castles and battlefields. On the Bright Side, you don’t have to share your gear or argue over who gets to be Yasuke.
