Elements can be collected as a way to make money, as part of an online challenge, or just as a fun hobby or pastime for Sims of all kinds. Ready to start your collection? We've got all the info you'll need to start raking in those sweet, sweet elements.

Updated March 22, 2025 by Jacqueline Zalace: The element collection in The Sims 4 can take a while to complete, especially since there is no way to guarantee a specific element from crystals that yield several types. We've updated this guide with a bit more information to help you complete the collection and fill in the Elemental Display Rack.

What Are Elements In The Sims 4?

The Sims 4: How To Complete The Elements Collection

Elements are collectible materials that can be displayed or sold by Sims. Each element varies in rarity, appearance, and worth. Found in metals and crystals, elements are a natural wonder in the world of the Sims.

They give off a Focused aura when displayed, making them a great addition to any study, office, or lab!

How To Get Elements

Completing the elements collection can take a while, but actually gathering the materials is simple enough. Your Sim will need to explore various neighborhoods to find and collect metals and crystals. As they explore, your Sim will come across rock formations with little specks of color.

You're more likely to find rare elements in hidden lots such as the Forgotten Grotto, Sixam, and the Deep Woods. If you don't have these expansions, don't worry! Just look around park areas; we found two rock formations off a side path of Magnolia Blossom Park in Willow Creek, which is part of the base game.

Command your Sim to mine the rock, and watch to see if they find anything! If they do, a notification box will pop up in the upper right corner, telling you what is inside the rock. Different metals and crystals appear in the same area, so don't hesitate to search an area twice.

If your Sim finds a material, you can send it to the Geo Council. The Geo Council will analyze it to see what element it contains and then send the element to your doorstep.

With the Get To Work expansion pack, scientists can analyze elements themselves. You can also ask your colleagues to give you metals or explore the lab lot to find them lying around.

Tips To Finding All Elements

Struggling to find all the elements? We have some tips for you. Firstly, be sure to search in Oasis Springs around Acquisition Butte, which is to the north. There are a lot of rocks here that you can have a Sim pick up.

If you have the Seasons expansion, there is also a chance that a lightning strike will cause an element to spawn. If it's thundering outside, head outside and look for where lightning strikes (carefully!).

Overall, the best tip we can give is to just dig up any rock that you see. Some crystals have a chance to contain several element types, so you may have to send in a few before getting the element that you want. Completing the entire collection is not a quick task.

How To Use The Elemental Display Rack

The Sims 4: How To Complete The Elements Collection

To use the Elemental Display Rack, you'll need to drag the identified elements directly on it. Rather than clicking on the rack and having your Sim place it, you can do it right from their inventory.

The element will automatically slot itself into the correct location, which looks similar to a real-life periodic table. At the bottom of the rack, you'll see outlines of the completed version, which is what you are working towards.

What Happens Once You Complete The Collection?

The Sims 4: How To Complete The Elements Collection

Once you gather all the elements, you'll be rewarded with the "It's All Elementary" plaque. Display your findings on the Elemental Display Rack, or sell them all for a pretty penny.

Here are some solutions to voice chat problems: 1. Set the microphone to the left channel (for XLR microphone and sound card) R.E.P.O. does not seem to detect audio in the right channel. If your microphone is connected to the right channel, move it to the left. 2. Restart the button to press the speaking function Some players have found that switching to press the speaking function switch can sometimes solve the problem.
