The U.S. Mint this week began selling 2025-W Proof American Gold Eagles in four individual coin sizes and a four-coin set.

The annual gold pieces were launched last week Monday with prices ranging from $430 to $7,182.50 — which have since been increased.

The newest gold issues saw a combined 8,648 coins ordered within four days. This marks the lowest start in the series, with the early performance clearly impacted by higher coin prices as a result of gold reaching record highs.

By comparison, proof Gold Eagle products from 2024 recorded combined sales of 25,280 coins, while those from 2023 reached 36,274 coins and 2022 posted 54,222 coins, all within their respective four-day starting periods. Initial prices for the 2022 and 2023 proof Gold Eagles were identical and lower than those for 2024, while 2025 prices stand as the highest ever.

The set, which launched March 4, opened with a six-day total of 211,757 sets. It climbed by 9,392 to reach 221,149 sets in its first full week of sales but most recently saw its total reduced by 13,918 to 207,231.
