Using Your Own Design System with KendoReact Components

KendoReact component libraries are becoming increasingly popular in daily development, especially when combining design systems and React for project development. It is similar to component libraries such as Bootstrap or Material Design, but its components are more powerful, interactive, and have state-driven capabilities to quickly build a complete UI. Moreover, it supports the use of Bootstrap as the theme.

When selecting a UI library, style customization capabilities are crucial. KendoReact customizes styles as its core feature.

KendoReact provides more than 80 UI components (not including<grid></grid> subcomponents of such components). For example,<dropdownlist></dropdownlist> Component: Easy to customize styles even with the default theme (optional).

You can use CSS directly to modify component styles, such as changing colors and fonts:

If you want to manage styles more systematically, the KendoReact theme is based on Sass, and you can control colors and styles by modifying the Sass variables.

KendoReact provides an online theme builder where you can adjust the UI color to your preference. For example, create a custom theme using CSS-Tricks color:

Download the generated SCSS file before applying it to the default topic during the build process (a detailed tutorial on the Telerik blog). You can also download the complete CSS file to quickly apply the theme. The following example shows a conversational chat component using a custom theme:

You can start with a Bootstrap, Material, or KendoReact default theme, or create a theme from scratch. Each theme has flexibility to easily configure colors, fonts, and other design elements.

KendoReact provides comprehensive documentation for your learning and use. If you need to build interactive interfaces quickly without sacrificing customization capabilities and functionality, KendoReact will be ideal.
