...This is the first time that a React component has been expressed in a single file format with explicit conventions.

This is the concept of Cells in RedwoodJS. To me, this feels like a slightly more concise version of the way Apollo uses useQuery . Shawn made the same connection, I know RedwoodJS uses Apollo, so I think it's a nice semantic syntactic sugar.

There are a lot of cool stuff in RedwoodJS. "A highly opinionated tech stack" would be helpful if you think so, but Tom made it clear in our last ShopTalk episode that it wasn't like Rails . This is not to say Rails is bad (it is good), but to say that this new world can do things in new and better ways to build long-term healthy software.
