1. Reasons for UI designers

Most designers use even-numbered design software (such as ps), so front-end engineers generally use even-numbered fonts

2. The reason for the browser

One is to accommodate IE6. The evil IE6 will render words defined as 13px into 14px. You can try writing a page
The other reason is , even-numbered Chinese characters, such as 12px wide Chinese characters, remove the 1 pixel spacing, and the actual width of the filled pixels is 11px, so that the left and right middle vertical lines of the Chinese characters are equally divided. Take the word "中" as an example, at 12 pixels When , the vertical line is in the middle, with 5 pixels on the left and right, which looks balanced.

Secondly, some of the more popular browsers like Google generally have a default minimum font, and the rendering of odd fonts is not very good

3. Practical application

  • Even numbers are easier to proportion to the rest of the web design. For example: when I use a body font size of 14 px, I might use a margin of 14 × 0.5 = 7 px in some places, and a title font size of 14 × 1.5 = 21 px in other places.
  • The dot matrix Song font that comes with Windows (Zhongyi Song font) only provides three lattice sizes of 12, 14, and 16 px starting from Vista, while the smaller one is used for 13, 15, and 17 px. The dot matrix of the number (that is, the space occupied by each character is 1 px larger, but the dot matrix remains the same), so it is slightly sparse.
