The article introduces the installation and configuration of memcached.exe in windows + php and the configuration of memcached in liunx. You can configure method one or method two according to your own system.

Installation and configuration of memcached.exe in windows+php

1. The download address for Windows version is: http://code.jellycan.com/memcached/

Extract the compressed file to c:/memcached/

2. Enter "c:/memcached/memcached.exe -d install" under CMD to install.

3. Then enter: "c:/memcached/memcached.exe -d start" to start. NOTE: In the future, memcached will be automatically started as a service of Windows every time you boot up. The server side has now been installed.

4. If -m is specified, it means that the cache size is the number after -m, the unit is M, for example:

c:/memcached/memcached.exe –l 127.0.0.1 –m 32 – d start

Set memcached as follows to help with memory issues:

After installing according to the above installation steps, using memcached -m 200 to adjust the maximum memory usage, you will find that it does not work. The default memory is always 64MB. I searched online and found that the reason is that it is not written in the registry. Enter the information and modify it like this.

1. memcached –d shutdown First shut down the memcached service.

2. Enter the registry and find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/memcached Server. There is an ImagePath entry with the value "c:/memcached/memcached.exe" -d runservice, followed by -l 127.0.0.1 -m 3000 -c 2048.

3.memcached –d start starts the memcached service, thus modifying the maximum memory of memcached to 3000MB.

If you downloaded the binary version, just run it directly. You can add parameters to set it.

Common settings:

-p Listening port
-l The IP address of the connection, the default is the local machine
-d start Start memcached service
-d restart Restart the memcached service
-d stop|shutdown Shut down the running memcached service
-d install Install memcached service
-d uninstall Uninstall memcached service
-u Run as (only valid when running as root)
-m Maximum memory usage, in MB. Default 64MB
-M Return an error when memory is exhausted instead of deleting items
-c The maximum number of simultaneous connections, the default is 1024
-f Block size growth factor, default is 1.25
-n Minimum allocated space, key+value+flags defaults to 48

http://www.danga.com/memcached

Download address:
http://danga.com/memcached/download.bml

Download file
memcached-1.2.6.tar.gz
tar zxvf memcached-1.2.6.tar.gz
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/memcached-1.2.6
make
make install

Note:

Memcache requires this package libevent, otherwise an error will be reported during installation:

checking for libevent directory... configure: error: libevent is required. You can get it from http://www.monkey.org/~provos/libevent/

If it's already installed, specify its path using --with-libevent=/dir/

Download the file libevent-1.4.9-stable.tar.gz

tar zxvf libevent-1.4.9-stable.tar.gz

./configure --prefix=/usr/local/libevent-1.4.9-stable.tar.gz
make
make install

Since my installation was not installed under usr, I finally started memcache and reported an error:

[root@localhost bin]# ./memcached -d -m 10 -p 11211 -u root -l 0.0.0.0
./memcached: error while loading shared libraries: libevent-1.4.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Check libevent installation:

ls -al /usr/lib | grep libevent
Copy/link libevent-1.4.so.2 to /usr/lib, otherwise memcached cannot be loaded normally.

cp libevent-1.4.so.2 /usr/lib/

After installation, you need to start the service
cd /usr/local/memcached-1.2.6/bin
./memcached -d -m 50 -p 11211 -u root -l 0.0.0.0
Parameter description
-m specifies how many megabytes of cache space to use;
-p specifies the port to listen on;
-u specifies which user to run
