Text retrieval

Basic knowledge
1. There is no full text search in the DeskTop version of SQL Server7.
2. A table can only have one full-text search.
3. The table being retrieved must have a single column unique index.
4. The full-text index is stored in the file system, not in the database.
5. The process of updating a full-text index is more time-consuming than a regular index, and it cannot be updated immediately by the database system like a regular index.
6. Full-text index is included in the full-text directory (Full-Text Catalog ), each database can contain one or more catalogs, but one catalog cannot belong to multiple databases.
7. Full text search can only be created on real tables, not views, system tables, or temporary tables.
8. Full text search will ignore some noise words (noise words), such as English a, the, and, Chinese '和', '是', etc.
9. If noise words are included in the query, an error will occur. These noises should be removed in the application. words.

' = "ftcPubsTest"
'Add the new catalog to the catalog collection
objSQL.Databases("pubs").FullTextCatalogs.Add objCatalog

Dim objTable As New SQLDMO.Table
'Specifies the table to be indexed
Set objTable = objSQL.Databases("pubs").Tables("authors")
'Specify the catalog name and unique index name
objTable.FullTextCatalogName = "ftcPubsTest"
objTable.UniqueIndexForFullText = "UPKCL_auidind"
objTable.FullTextIndex = True

'Specifies the indexed column
objTable.Columns("au_lname").FullTextIndex = True
objTable.Columns("au_fname").FullTextIndex = True

'Activate the full text index on this table
objTable.FullTextIndexActive = True
