Lists
HTML supports unnumbered, numbered, and definition lists. You can also nest lists, but don’t nest them too much, otherwise it will be unclear to readers.

Unnumbered Lists

Make an unnumbered, bulletin-style list,

Start with the opening tag

    (short for unnumbered list)
    Enter the
  • (list item) tag, followed by Independent items; no need to use the
  • tag
    Use the
tag to end the entire list
Here is a list with three items:

  • apples
  • grapefruit

The output format is:

apples
bananas
grapefruit
  • Items can contain multiple paragraphs. Use the paragraph mark

    to indicate.

    Numbered Lists Numbered Lists

Numbered lists (also called ordered lists) are the same as unnumbered lists, except that

      is used instead of
. Each item is also marked with
      • . The following HTML code :

        1. oranges
        2. peaches
        3. grapes

        The output produced is:

        oranges
        peaches
        grapes
        Definition List s

        Definition lists (encoded as
) usually contain alternating definition terms (encoded as
) and definition definitions (encoded as
). Web browsers usually start a new line Show definition description.

The following is an example of a definition list:

        NCSA
NCSA, the National Center for Supercomputing Applications,
is located on the campus of the University of Illinois
        at Urbana-Champaign.
        Cornell Theory Center
CTC is located on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca,
        New York.

        The output format is:

        NCSA
NCSA, the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, is located on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
        Cornell Theory Center
CTC is located on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
items can contain multiple paragraphs (indicated by

tags), lists, or other definition information. The

COMPACT attribute may be used frequently if your definition terms are short. For example , if you want to display some computer options, they can be on the same line as the start of the definition.

        -i
invokes NCSA Mosaic for Microsoft Windows using the
initialization file defined in the path
        -k
invokes NCSA Mosaic for Microsoft Windows in kiosk mode

        The output format is:

        -i
invokes NCSA Mosaic for Microsoft Windows using the initialization file defined in the path.
        -k

        Nested Lists

Lists can be nested. In each list item, you can also have multiple paragraphs, each Paragraphs contain nested lists.
