A snapshot chain is a relationship chain composed of all snapshots in a disk. One disk corresponds to a snapshot chain, so the snapshot chain ID is the disk ID. A snapshot chain includes the following information:

Snapshot node: A node in the snapshot chain represents a snapshot of the disk.

Snapshot capacity: the storage space occupied by all snapshots in the snapshot chain.

Snapshot quota: Each snapshot chain can only have a maximum of 64 snapshot quotas, including manual snapshots and automatic snapshots. After the quota limit is reached, if you continue to create automatic snapshots, the system will automatically delete the oldest automatic snapshot created.

Prerequisite

You have created a snapshot for a disk.

Operation steps

Follow the following steps to view the capacity occupied by all snapshots of this disk:

Log in to the ECS management console .

Select a region.

In the left navigation bar, select Snapshots and Mirroring > Snapshot List .

Confirm the disk ID for which the snapshot capacity needs to be found. The disk should have completed at least one snapshot.

#In the left navigation bar, click Snapshot Chain.

View all snapshot capacities of the disk based on the disk ID found in step 4. Here you can view the number of snapshots and snapshot capacity of the disk.

In the operation column of the specified snapshot chain, click Details to enter the snapshot chain details page. You can view the snapshot information of the disk and perform a rollback of the cloud disk. Or use snapshots to create custom images.

View all snapshot capacities in a certain region

Log in to the ECS management console.

Select a region.

In the left navigation bar, select Snapshots and Mirroring > Snapshot Capacity.
