1. What is an availability zone?

An availability zone refers to a physical area in the same region where power and network are independent of each other. Failures will be isolated in an availability zone.

ECS instances in the same availability zone have smaller network latency.

In the same region, intranets in different availability zones can communicate with each other.

In the same region, faults in different availability zones are isolated from each other.

You can freely mount and unmount pay-as-you-go cloud disks between different ECS instances in the same availability zone.

2. How to select an availability zone based on server application requirements?

If your application requires high availability, it is recommended that you create ECS instances in different availability zones.

If you require low network access latency between ECS instances, it is recommended that you create the ECS instances in the same availability zone.

Independent cloud disks can only be mounted on ECS instances in the same availability zone.

3. What is the difference between pay-as-you-go cloud disk and cloud disk?

Pay-as-you-go cloud disks can be uninstalled. After purchasing a pay-as-you-go cloud disk separately and attaching it to an ECS instance, there is no difference between a pay-as-you-go cloud disk and a cloud disk.

Cloud disks (including ordinary cloud disks, high-efficiency cloud disks, and SSD cloud disks) are generated directly when purchasing ECS ​​instances and cannot be uninstalled.

4. Will the performance and data security of pay-as-you-go cloud disks be the same as those of ordinary cloud disks? Will the disk performance be improved?

Divided into types. The performance of pay-as-you-go cloud disks of the same type is the same as that of ordinary cloud disks. There is no difference and the disk performance will not be improved.

5. Can I use user snapshots to create pay-as-you-go cloud disks?

Can. Select an existing snapshot to directly create a pay-as-you-go cloud disk. The newly created pay-as-you-go cloud disk has the same capacity and data as the snapshot, and the capacity cannot be changed.

6. What is a mount point?

The mount point is: the position of the disk on the cloud server ECS on the disk controller bus. The selected mount point corresponds to the disk device number under the Linux operating system; under the Windows operating system, it is consistent with the disk sequence in the disk manager.

7. Can a pay-as-you-go cloud disk be attached to multiple ECS instances?

cannot. A pay-as-you-go cloud disk can only be mounted to one ECS instance in the same Availability Zone and cannot be mounted across Availability Zones.

8. How many pay-as-you-go cloud disks can be mounted to an ECS instance at the same time?

Up to 16 blocks, including cloud disks and pay-as-you-go cloud disks.

9. Can pay-as-you-go cloud disks be attached to subscription and pay-as-you-go ECS instances?

10. Why can’t I find the ECS instance I want to mount when mounting a pay-as-you-go cloud disk?

13. Why does my pay-as-you-go cloud disk not have automatic snapshots?

The pay-as-you-go cloud disk will only implement the policy of creating new automatic snapshots after it is mounted to an ECS instance. The original automatic snapshots created will be gradually deleted over time.

14. Will my snapshots be lost when reinitializing the disk?

No (including manual snapshots and automatic snapshots).

15. Will my snapshots be lost when replacing the system disk?

Automatic snapshots will be lost, but manual snapshots will not.

Note: When replacing the system disk, the disk ID will change. The original system disk user snapshot cannot be used to roll back the new system disk. However, you can create a custom image using a user-manual snapshot retained from the original system disk.

16. When uninstalling a pay-as-you-go cloud disk, will my disk lose data?

In order to ensure data integrity, under the Windows operating system, it is recommended that you suspend read and write operations on all file systems of the cloud disk, otherwise the unfinished read and write data will be lost. Under the Linux operating system, you need to log in to the ECS instance and perform the unmount command line operation on the disk. After the command is successfully executed, enter the console to unmount the disk.

17. Can I unmount the system disk?

cannot.
