How to completely uninstall mysql

Many people have encountered a problem, that is, they made an error when installing MySQL, and the final result was not what they wanted. Uninstalled and reinstalled and found that it could not be installed. In fact, the main reason is that MySQL was not uninstalled cleanly. Files that have not been deleted will occupy the location, so many files cannot be successfully created during installation, eventually causing the installation to fail. Therefore, we need to know which files that have not been deleted will affect the installation of MySQL, and find the location of these files and delete them.

Solution:

To uninstall the MySQL database, you need to complete the following steps:

1. First, find MySQL in the program uninstallation in the control panel. Right click to uninstall. This is a necessary step to uninstall the program.

2. Delete the contents of the registry, press the win R key to open the run box, enter regedit to open the registry editor

Delete four items:

a.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\MySQL

b.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\services\MySQL

(Some do not have this item, if not you don’t need to delete it)

c.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\eventlog\Application\MySQL

d.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\eventlog\Application\MySQL

3. Delete C :\ProgramData\MySQL folder. Since ProgramData is the default hidden file in Windows, you need to check whether you have set up to show hidden files. Open "My Computer" in Windows 7, click Tools in the upper left corner, select Folder Options, select View, and check View hidden files. For Windows 10 systems, you can directly click on the upper left corner to view options.
