SparkSession is essentially a combination of SQLContext and HiveContext (StreamingContext may be added in the future), so the APIs available on SQLContext and HiveContext can also be used on SparkSession. SparkSession encapsulates SparkContext internally, so the calculation is actually completed by SparkContext.
