Can extension functions be added after php is compiled?

Can extension functions be added after php is compiled?

Can extensions be added?

php itself provides many extensions, such as curl, gmp, mbstring, etc. Not all extensions may be installed when we compile and install php. So after installing PHP, what should I do if I want to install a PHP extension separately? We take the installation of the curl extension module as an example to illustrate how to add extensions separately.

Steps:
1. Enter the extension directory of the php source code. In this example, the corresponding directory of my source code is as follows:

/search/src/php-7.0.14/ext
Copy after login

2. Enter the module directory. We installed the curl extension, so enter the curl directory. At this time, the directory we are in is

/search/src/php-7.0.14/ext/curl
Copy after login

3. Execute phpize. Note that if you have multiple PHP versions on your machine, be sure to execute phpize corresponding to the PHP version you plan to install the extension. For example, I have both php7 and php5.3.3 on my machine. I'm currently preparing to install the curl extension for php7. So execute phpize

/usr/local/php7.0/bin/phpize
Copy after login

corresponding to php7. The result is similar:

Configuring for:
PHP Api Version: 20151012
Zend Module Api No: 20151012
Zend Extension Api No: 320151012
Copy after login

4. Execute ./configure

./configure --with-php-config=/usr/local/php7.0/bin/php-config
Copy after login

Note: If there is only one php version on your machine , most of the time there is no need to specifically use –with-php-config to indicate the location of the corresponding php-config.

5. Execute make, and then the curl.so file will be generated in the ./modules/ directory

6. Execute make install

The result is similar:

Installing shared extensions: /usr/local/php7.0/lib/php/20151012/
Copy after login

The execution result tells you which directory curl.so is installed to.

Generally, if you specify php-config correctly or your machine has only one php version, so will be correctly installed to the extension_dir of the corresponding php. If after executing make install, there is no corresponding so in the extension_dir directory, you can manually cp the so file generated in step 5.

To view the specific extension_dir, you can execute the following command.

php -i| grep extension_dir
Copy after login

The result is similar to

extension_dir => /usr/local/php7.0/lib/php/20151012/ => /usr/local/php7.0/lib/php/20151012/
Copy after login

7. Add

extension=curl.so
Copy after login

to php.ini. If you don’t know the specific location of php.ini, you can check it with the following command

php --ini
Copy after login

8. Execute the following command to check whether the installation is successful

php -m | grep curl
Copy after login

If you see curl, congratulations, the installation is successful!

Note: If you are using fpm, apache, etc. to execute php. After modifying the corresponding php.ini, you need to restart fpm or apache for the new extension to take effect
