Prerequisites

Modify the default remote port of the Windows server

This section uses Windows Server 2008 as an example to introduce how to modify the default remote port of the Windows server.

1. Connect remotely and log in to the Windows instance. For specific operations, see Connecting to a Windows Instance.

2. Modify the value of the registry subkey PortNumber.

1. Press the shortcut key Win (Windows logo key) R to start the running window.

2. Enter regedit.exe and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.

3. In the left navigation bar, click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > System > CurrentControlSet > Control > Terminal Server > WinStations > RDP-Tcp.

4. Find the registry subkey PortNumber in the list on the right and right-click it and select Modify.

5. In the pop-up dialog box, enter the new remote port number in the text box of Value data, which is 3399 in this example. Click Decimal in the Base area, and then click OK.

3. Optional: If you have turned on the firewall, you need to add the new port number to the firewall and set it to allow connections. For specific methods, see Setting the ECS instance remote connection firewall.

4. Restart the ECS instance in the ECS management console. For specific operations, see Restarting an instance.

5. Add security group rules to the instance to allow the newly configured remote port to connect. For specific operations, see Add Security Group Rules.

6. Access the server remotely. Add a new remote port number after the remote address to connect to the instance. For example: 192.168.1.2:3399.
