When developing web projects or other scenarios, sometimes we need to set an "alarm". For example, when a certain indicator of the database reaches a certain value, the website administrator needs to be notified. Today I would like to share with you a relatively simple php alarm function.

First introduce a function error_log used to record logs in PHP, which is used to send errors to a certain place. Function introduction

bool error_log ( string $message [, int $message_type = 0
[, string  $destination [, string $extra_headers ]]]
Copy after login

$message represents the information to be recorded; $message_type is used to set where the information is to be sent. Possible message types are as follows:

0 : message sent to PHP's system log, using the operating system's logging mechanism or a file, depending on what the error_log directive is set to. This is the default option.

1: The message is sent to the email address set by the parameter destination. The fourth parameter extra_headers will only be used in this type.

2: No longer an option

3: The message is sent to the file at destination

4: The message is sent directly to the SAPI log handler.

In addition, $destination is determined by $message_type; $extra_headers is used when $message_type is 1.

Under *nix operating system, PHP sends emails through the sendmail component. So first make sure you have installed the sendmail component. You can use the following command to test whether the mail service on your server is normal. Unsuccessfully sent emails will be returned to /var/mail/ by default. You can check the details in the returned email yourself.

echo "test mail content" | mail -s "test mail subject" {xxx@yy.com}
Copy after login

Start

1. Install sendmail

Mac normally comes with sendmail by default, located under /usr/sbin/. If not, you can search and install it by yourself~

2. Find the configuration file php.ini

php -i | grep php.ini
Copy after login

used by php. 3. Open php.ini and find the sendmail configuration line

sendmail_path = "/usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i"
Copy after login

4. If used in a web project, restart the server after configuration to take effect.

5. Test. Use php -a to open the php interactive shell, enter the following code, and then go to the mailbox to check (note: the mailbox may block such emails, please pay attention to adding a whitelist).

error_log('hello world',1,'xxx@yy.com');
Copy after login

The steps are roughly as above. The configurations of other Linux-based operating systems are similar. Interested partners can try it on their own. If there are any deficiencies in this article, please give your comments and comments~
