php string file name

In "PHP String Exercise 1: Generating Random Passwords from a Given String", we introduce how to generate random passwords from a specified string, which is also the first chapter in the series of playing with strings. One article, interested friends can read it. In this article, we continue the string series!

The theme of this article is to quickly extract the file name from the specified string. First of all, everyone must know that there are two situations for obtaining the file name. One is the file name with the file suffix, and the other is without the suffix. The file names, such as the file names index and index.php, are still obviously different.

So here are two ways to extract file names:

The first one:

Get the file name without suffix File name, directly enter the code:

<?php
$path = 'www.example.com/public_html/index.php';
$file = basename($path, ".php");
echo $file."\n";
Copy after login

The output result is as shown below:

This method is the simplest, just use the basename() function directly You can return the file name part of the path. The syntax is "basename(path,suffix)", where the parameter suffix represents the file extension. If the file has this parameter, the extension will not be output. Obviously we set this parameter Yes is ".php".

Second type:

Extract the file name with the suffix name, the code is as follows:

<?php
$path = 'www.example.com/public_html/index.php';
$file_name = substr(strrchr($path, "/"), 1);
echo $file_name."\n"; // "index.php"
Copy after login

The result is:

In this method we mainly use two functions strrchr and substr.

The strrchr function is used to find the last occurrence of a string in another string and return all characters from that position to the end of the string.

The substr function is used to return a part of a string, the syntax is "substr(string,start,length)".

For details about the substr function, I recommend you read "php substr function definition and usage summary"

Finally, I still recommend a classic course on our platform. "PHP String Processing (Jade Girl Heart Sutra Edition)", free ~ come and learn!
