Installing PHP and MySQL makes it easier to develop your own website or application locally. Below are installation tutorials for PHP and MySQL.

  1. Installing PHP

The first step is to download the latest version of PHP. You can find the download link for PHP on the official website (https://www.php.net/downloads.php). Open the decompressed folder and find php.ini-development file, save it as php.ini;

Find extension_dir in the php.ini file and modify it to the path of the ext folder in the PHP installation directory;

Open the CMD command line window, And enter the PHP installation directory and run php.exe to test whether PHP can work normally.

  1. Install MySQL

The second step is to install MySQL. You can download the latest version of MySQL from the official website (https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/). On the download page, you can select the version of MySQL you need based on your operating system and version. After the download is completed, we need to perform the following steps:

Create a new folder in the MySQL installation directory to store the MySQL database;

Open the CMD command line window, Run mysqld.exe with administrator rights, install MySQL as a service and create a new MySQL user;

Open MySQL Workbench or use the command line command mysql -u root -p to test whether MySQL can work properly.

  1. Connecting PHP and MySQL

If you have successfully installed PHP and MySQL, you need to connect these two tools to get started. The following are the steps to connect PHP and MySQL:

Use mysqli in the PHP file to connect to the MySQL database. The following is some PHP code that can be used to connect to the MySQL database:

<?php
    $server = "localhost";
    $user = "root";
    $password = "";
    $database = "test_db";

    $conn = mysqli_connect($server, $user, $password, $database);

    if (!$conn) {
        die("Connection failed: " . mysqli_connection_error());
    }

    echo "Connection successful!";
?>
Copy after login

Make sure to enter the correct host address, user name, password and database name;

Run the PHP file to check whether you can connect to MySQL database.
