Apple has launched "Daisy" - a new robot that can disassemble iPhones to recycle device parts. Now, thanks to YouTuber Sara Dietschy, we finally get an up-close look at every step Daisy takes to carefully disassemble her iPhone. A closer look at how Apple uses its Daisy robot to recycle iPhones

Dietschy was invited to visit one of Apple’s facilities in Texas where it recycles devices. The Daisy robot was developed specifically to disassemble iPhones, and Apple has previously said the machine can disassemble up to 200 iPhones per hour. One Daisy robot can recycle up to 1.2 million iPhones per year.

As soon as one puts the iPhone into the machine, it starts pulling all the components out of the device on its own. Daisy has four different modules that separate iPhone parts and their different materials.

The first module is responsible for removing the display, while the second module separates the battery from the device. Since the battery is glued to the back of the iPhone, the robot uses "a blast of really cold air" to loosen the adhesive. The third module then removes the screws from the phone.

As the YouTuber explains, Module 4 puts all the components and pieces on a conveyor belt so humans can sort them into large bins. This process is important so Apple can recycle metal and plastic from old devices and use them to make new ones.
