Much to the annoyance of many Windows users, Microsoft has retained many of the visual improvements tested on Windows 10 for Windows 11.
One of them is the translucent menu, which allows some background to be visible in the menu.
If you're dying to get a little bit of this look on Windows 10 and don't want to upgrade to Windows 11, there's now a small open source app that lets you do just that.
AcrylicMenus is a small proof-of-concept application that applies acrylic effects to almost all existing Win32 context menus on Windows 10 via the native Win32 hooking API.
Since the app is experimental and still buggy, the developers did not design the app to be permanently installed, and users report that it still has some bugs and inconsistencies.
But if you’re keen to give it a try, check out AcrylicMenus on Github here.
