Linux operating system originally called Lindows released with Linspire 12 Alpha

Linspire’s roots as a Linux distribution go back 20 years, when it originally started as “Lindows” and was preparing a new major version. Linspire's current incarnation though began five years ago, when PC/OpenSystems acquired the rights to Linspire and Freespire from Xandros. Linspire claims to be the "simplest desktop Linux" and hopes to improve further with the v12 release.

Linspire 12 is still based on Debian/Ubuntu, powered by the Linux 5.15 kernel, relies on the GNOME desktop environment and its various applications, comes with OnlyOffice 7.2 as its preferred office suite, and Microsoft Edge 108 as its preferred network browser.

Remembering the original Lindows/Linspire days, I decided to download the Linspire 12 Alpha 1 release...it currently looks just like Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, and the Linspire release notes admit that "the branding is not Complete" is a known issue.
