Microsoft released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22563 to the Dev Channel, adding various new and convenient features to the operating system. In addition to new features like a tablet-optimized taskbar and dynamic widgets, Build 22563 offers a number of improvements and fixes to improve the overall user experience.

Improvements

Taskbar

  • Microsoft has begun rolling out a feature that allows users to quickly manage all Bluetooth devices from Quick Settings. Apart from this, users can easily connect, disconnect and check the battery level of their device at one place.

  • Microsoft is making it easier for users to side-by-side snapshot-related windows by including tabs in Microsoft Edge as suggested windows in Snap Assist . Whenever a user snaps a window, Windows automatically suggests the three latest Microsoft Edge tabs. This will be done by default, but users can change the setting by going to Settings > System > Multitasking.

Emoji

  • With this latest build, Windows Insiders have access to 37 new emoji from Emoji 14.0, including “Playground Slideshow,” “Melting Face”, “Mirror Ball”, “Coral” etc.
  • There are new skin tone options for gestures and people, which means there are 112 emojis in total, including handshakes.

Accessibility

  • The accessibility flyout from Build 22557 is now available in the Dev Channel.

  • Users with very large temporary folders will experience improved login performance.
  • Microsoft has also fixed some issues that affect the reliability of explorer.exe.

  • The mute icon in the taskbar now prompts the user for its keyboard shortcut (WIN Alt K).

Start Menu

  • Microsoft fixed an issue on the Start menu where users reported that whenever they used a new touch gesture, it didn't always Open consistently.
  • Recommended items have animated icons that fade in or out depending on whether you add or remove them.
  • The sleep icon located in the power menu is no longer a bell.
  • Trying to share an app across all apps will no longer cause a crash.

File Manager

  • Microsoft has removed the random white dots that appear for users in context menus.
  • The OneDrive icon will now appear correctly in the File Explorer command bar.

Enter

  • Emoji search results have been improved due to user feedback. For example, when a user searches for the word "balloon," the search results will first suggest the balloon emoji.
