Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22533 to the Dev Channel. Among other things, Microsoft has announced a new calling experience for the Your Phone app that "includes a nice set of changes, improvements, and fixes." An ISO of this version has also been released for those who want a fresh install. First up are the changes and improvements:

  • We updated the pop-up design for hardware indicators for brightness, volume, camera privacy, camera on/off, and airplane mode to align with Windows 11 design principles. These new pop-up buttons appear when you press the volume or brightness keys on your laptop and feature light/dark modes, giving you a more coherent Windows experience. Brightness and volume indicators continue to interact with updates.

  • You can now search for Voice Access from the taskbar and pin Voice Access to your taskbar or start and toggle it on/off like other apps.
  • We’re extending our rollout of 13 touch keyboard themes along with the IME, Emoji Panel, and Voice Input (first introduced in Build 22504) to all Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel.
  • When you press WIN
  • The Clock application can now be uninstalled if desired.

Go to the list of fixes, they are:

[General]

  • Fixed Insiders may see an issue with error 0x8007012a during driver or firmware updates.
  • Resolved an issue that resulted in Insiders sometimes being unable to log in to certain applications, such as Feedback Hub.
  • Fixed text in the Exploit Protection description in the Windows Security app so that it only refers to Windows and not Windows 10.
  • Fixed an issue resulting in the inability to import photos from certain cameras and phones when entering the Photos app (it would loop forever saying 0 items found so far).
  • Starting Windows Sandbox, turning it off, and then starting it again should no longer result in two Windows Sandbox icons appearing in the taskbar (one of which is not functioning properly).

[Taskbar]

  • The Wi-Fi icon should now appear more reliably in the taskbar.
  • Explorer.exe will no longer crash if you have multiple monitors connected to your PC and right-click on the date and time on the main monitor's taskbar.
  • Holding down CTRL and hovering over the Task View icon in the taskbar should no longer cause explorer.exe to crash.

[Settings]

  • Mitigated a potential issue related to the use of mica in Settings that affected recent in-flight " Settings" application's overall reliability.
  • Fixed an issue affecting some Insiders that caused Settings to crash when trying to access installed apps, startup apps, and the default apps page.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Wheel page in Settings to crash when adding an action to the app.
  • If you play audio and repeatedly click the volume slider in Quick Settings to change the volume, you should no longer hear the crackling sound.

[Open Window]

  • If you hover over the truncated window title in ALT Tab or Task View, it will now appear Show tooltip of full window name.

[Input]

  • Improved the appearance of text colors and buttons for applying themes in the candidate window, emoji panel, and clipboard ( Before this, some buttons/text were hard to see with some custom background colors).
  • The Voice Input Launcher should no longer unexpectedly reappear after clicking the microphone icon to invoke Voice Input.
  • For Insiders with the updated input switcher experience, accessibility tools like Magnifier and Narrator should now work better with it.

Note: Some of the fixes mentioned here in Insider Preview builds from the active development branch may make their way into servicing updates for released versions of Windows 11 that will become generally available on October 5, 2021 middle.

The following are known issues in the build:

[START]

  • In some cases , text may not be entered when using Search from Start or the taskbar. If you encounter this problem, press WIN R on your keyboard to launch the Run dialog box, and then close it.

[Taskbar]

  • The taskbar sometimes flashes when switching input methods.

[Search]

  • The search panel may not open after clicking the search icon on the taskbar. If this happens, restart the Windows Explorer process and open the search panel again.

[set up]

  • When viewing the list of available Wi-Fi networks, the signal strength indicator did not reflect the correct signal strength.
  • Settings may crash when going to System >Display >HDR. If you need to enable or disable HDR on an HDR-capable PC, you can use the WIN ALT B keyboard shortcut to do so.
  • There is a blank entry under Bluetooth and Devices.

[Widgets]

  • Changing the taskbar alignment may cause the Widgets button to disappear from the taskbar.
  • When there are multiple monitors, widget content on the taskbar may become out of sync between monitors.
  • When the taskbar is aligned to the left, information such as temperature will not be displayed. This will be fixed in a future update.
