Apple's Studio Display now supports Windows via Boot Camp

Apple announced its new Studio Display earlier this month. The hardware features a 27-inch 5K Retina screen with over 14.7 million pixels, 600 nits brightness, and P3 wide color gamut. It also comes with Apple's A13 Bionic chipset and a 12MP ultrawide front-facing camera. While the monitor will apparently work with macOS PCs via a Thunderbolt connection, Apple has now updated Boot Camp with native support for Windows running on Macs.

For those who don’t know, Boot Camp is Apple’s native solution for running Windows natively on Mac hardware. This update upgrades Boot Camp to version 61.1.17 and adds support for the new Studio Display when using Windows with Boot Camp. It also includes updated drivers for AMD and Intel GPUs.

While this is all well and good, it's important to note that there are still some limitations to consider when connecting your Studio Display to a Mac running Windows. You'll lose features like Center Stage, spatial audio, and "Hey Siri" voice commands. However, other features should work as expected.

It’s worth mentioning that Boot Camp is only available on Macs with Intel processors. M1 Macs must rely on workarounds such as Parallels virtualization to run Windows.
