It’s no secret that Microsoft Surface computing products are a bit difficult to fix, especially when it comes to the Surface family of devices. Past iterations of the device required a lot of elbow grease and sometimes made it impossible to replace certain parts. Thankfully, that seems to be changing now, as the iFixit team has given high praise to the recently released Surface Pro 9. Surface Pro 9 最大的升级之一是其可修复性得分

The most nerve-wracking part of tearing down the Surface Pro 9 is removing the display, according to iFixit's breakdown of the new device. However, even this part isn't as bad as previous Surface devices since the new display is more forgiving thanks to its improved adhesion and flexibility. Once the screen was removed, it was placed on the heatsink and fan assembly, which were held in place by a few Torx screws.

Perhaps the most pleasing discovery from the iFixit team is that the battery is attached with screws rather than traditional hard-to-remove adhesive. From there, it's just a matter of removing more Torx screws to the motherboard, and your Surface Pro 9 disassembly is complete. As for repairability, iFixit gave it a seven out of ten, which is a big improvement over the previous model.

In addition to the good repair scores, iFixit also shared that Microsoft will release repair tutorials for its products before the end of the year, with parts available in the first half of 2023. The manuals and parts will be available to regular consumers, which is great news, as before, iFixit only supplies parts to authorized service providers.

Over the past few years, iFixit has partnered with several companies to make repairs easier. It currently has partnerships with HTC, Motorola, Fairphone, Samsung, Google, Teenage Engineering, Valve, and Vaude.
