Microsoft launches first Windows 11 PC powered by Pluton, leading a new era of computer security
Microsoft Pluton is a secure processor, first in Xbox and Azure Sphere, designed to store sensitive data such as encryption keys.
All of this is stored securely in Pluton hardware, which is integrated into the chip of the device's CPU and is more difficult for attackers to access, even if they actually own the device.

Many of us were expecting this to happen as Microsoft announced the integration of its Pluton security processor into Intel, AMD and Qualcomm CPUs as a chip on a chip , to reduce the available attack surface on Windows PCs.
This was announced in November 2020, with the first models launching with XBOX One and Azure Sphere.
Pluton emulates a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) to protect the boot process, encryption keys and credentials directly on the CPU, with the ultimate goal of preventing threat actors from accessing such sensitive data.
