Bug in Windows 11 that may break color rendering when using certain photo editors

We're not sure if you've heard of this, but Microsoft has released a notification related to a newly discovered color bug on the latest operating systems.

According to the official Windows 11 Known Issues section, an issue appears to occur on some HDR displays when using certain image editing software.

This annoying issue seems to stem from some incompatibility with the color rendering Win32 API under certain conditions.

This is often observed with white, which can appear as bright yellow or other colors. That’s pretty much the short version of the bug that’s driving Windows 11 users crazy right now.

This issue occurs when certain color rendering Win32 APIs return unexpected information or errors under certain conditions. Not all color profile management programs are affected, and the color profile options available in the Windows 11 Settings page, including the Microsoft Color Control Panel, are expected to function correctly.

However, as the Redmond tech giant confirmed, not every color profile management program is affected by the bug.

Additionally, Microsoft is not sure where exactly the problem started, as it has left the original update column blank.

Or it could be that the bug has been there from the beginning and is just now starting to be reported, although we highly doubt this.

As for reports in the Feedback Hub, the display color rendering bug appears to have been fully fixed when running these preview builds.
