How to bind keyboard up and down key events in vue

Apr 26, 2023 pm 02:21 PM

Vue is an open source JavaScript framework specifically used to build user interfaces. The original design intention of Vue is to simplify the process of front-end page development and improve development efficiency. In the Vue framework, we often need to bind various JS events, such as "click events", "mouse movement events", "keyboard events", etc. This article will introduce how to bind keyboard up and down key events in Vue.

In Vue, we can use the v-on directive (or abbreviated as @) to bind various JS events. Among them, keyboard events are generally represented by keydown or keyup.

To bind keyboard up and down key events, we only need to add the corresponding v-on instructions to the template. Here is a simple example:

<template>

  <div>

    <input v-model="inputVal" v-on:keydown.up="onUp" v-on:keydown.down="onDown">

  </div>

</template>

<script>

export default {

  data() {

    return {

      inputVal: ''

    }

  },

  methods: {

    onUp() {

      console.log('Up key pressed');

    },

    onDown() {

      console.log('Down key pressed');

    },

  }

}

</script>

Copy after login

In the above example code, we used .up# in the v-on directive of the input element ## and .down modifiers are used to bind keyboard up and down key events. The string after the v-on directive represents the JS event to be bound, and the modifier represents the specific event type. The modifier .up here represents the up key of the keyboard (i.e., the up arrow key), and .down represents the down key of the keyboard (i.e., the down arrow key).

In the above code, we have defined two methods,

onUp and onDown, to handle up and down key events. When the user presses the up key of the keyboard, the onUp method will be triggered. When the user presses the down key of the keyboard, the onDown method will be triggered. Among these two methods, we use the console.log() method to output relevant log information. You can write your own logic code according to actual needs.

Regarding modifiers, Vue official documentation provides some other options:

  • .enter: Listen for the Enter key;
  • .tab: Monitor the Tab key;
  • .delete / .del: Monitor the Delete or Backspace key;
  • .esc: Monitor the Esc key;
  • .space: Monitor the space key;
  • .ctrl: Monitor the Ctrl key;
  • .alt: Monitor the Alt key;
  • .shift: Monitor the Shift key.
Binding keyboard events is often used in actual development. If you are familiar with Vue's template syntax and the

v-on directive, the above example should not be difficult to understand. It should be noted that if you want to listen to events of other keys, you can also use the modifiers provided by Vue as needed.
