It’s been another busy week on Microsoft’s Bing front. The company has added the AI-powered Bing Image Creator, which allows users in Bing Chat to create works of art with just a few text prompts . It also launched its own Bing Image Creator website for anyone to view.
If you are using a standalone site and you are in the Microsoft Rewards program. As revealed in a post on the official Bing blog, Jordi Ribas, Microsoft's corporate vice president of search and AI, said:
As a Microsoft Rewards member you can improve your image creation by using points. Generate speed to further accelerate your creativity.
As a reminder, Microsoft Rewards allows users to sign up and earn points for using the company's services, including searching on Bing. These points can be redeemed for e-gift cards, sweepstakes entries, and now faster Bing Image Creator artwork generation.
Ribas also mentioned in the same blog post that Bing Image Creator is actually launching in some markets in October 2022. Ribas said the company waited until this week to launch it globally. He added:
It should be noted that except for generating AI images using OpenAI’s latest DALL·E model, we prohibit the use of Image Creator to produce content that may cause harm to individuals or society. To achieve this, we block certain prompts and images, and we've helped inform this approach over the past few months. I realize this can sometimes lead to over-blocking certain images, which can be frustrating, which is why we have implemented an appeals process and will continue to improve our classifiers.
