Global App Store downloads hit 8.6 billion in Q1 2022

Global App Store downloads increased 2.4% in the first quarter of 2022, reaching 8.6 billion. Total app downloads between the ‌App Store‌ and the Google Play Store were 36.9 billion, an increase of 1.4%.

Because there are far more Android users than iPhone users, far more apps are downloaded on Android devices, with 28.3 billion Google Play downloads in the quarter.

TikTok is the most downloaded app on iPhone and iPad in the world, with over 70 million App Store downloads. YouTube, WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook were the other most downloaded apps, unchanged from the same period last year.
