Discussions about supporting native Android apps on Microsoft's new operating system have been endless since Microsoft was still learning how to walk and talk.

The Redmond-based tech company has even accelerated the process and actually brought the feature to Windows 11, although you have to sideload the app through the Amazon store.

Insiders in the Beta and Dev channels have been testing this new feature for months, and now it’s finally time for Microsoft to take it a step further.

As a result, the company is now allowing Windows 11 Insiders on the Release Preview channel to test native Android app support for the operating system.

Native Android support getting closer to public release

Please note that the public preview is still only available to Insiders in the United States, but it won’t be long before Microsoft rolls out this feature to the public via an update.

Don’t think Insiders have access to thousands of Android-based apps while testing this much-requested new feature.

In fact, they currently only have access to about 50 apps that behave like normal Windows apps and are neatly integrated with Alt Tab, Task View, and Notification Center.

Android 应用现在正在 Release Preview 频道中由 Insiders 测试

We're pretty sure most of you are excited about this new addition, especially now that you know general availability is just around the corner.

But that’s not the only good news if you’re a big fan of Android apps and want them to run natively in your Windows setup.

We say this because, while Microsoft has partnered with Amazon to launch Android apps on Windows 11, Google is also working on launching Android games on Windows 10 and Windows 11.

This is still a work in progress, but it's also a preview of the new operating system in 2022. The tech giant does promise to do everything in its power to make the new operating system better than the previous one.
