On Windows 11, you can use Windows Subsystem for Android to download, Install and run mobile applications. Microsoft officially allows users to install apps from the Amazon Appstore, but the company also lets you sideload Android via the command line (ADB tool).

However, there's a catch - the official command line way of sideloading apps can be complicated and lengthy. You can easily sideload your favorite APKs using a third-party tool called “WSATools”. WSATools acts as a GUI, replicating ADB commands behind the scenes, allowing you to install Android apps with just a few clicks.

WSATools is already in the Microsoft Store and is getting a new update with two new features – support for APK Bundles and ARM64. For those who don’t know, APK Bundles are a new way to distribute Android apps, a new packaging system introduced by Google in 2018. Unlike APKs, app packages help save storage space and data usage.

To get started, make sure you have WSA enabled and download "WSATools" from the Microsoft Store. Run the application and follow the on-screen prompts. If ADB ADB (Android Debug Bridge) is missing, click the Install button to add the ADB tool. Android Bridge is required to run Android applications, so you must install it.

#Once completed, you can reopen the app and select the APK file or APK Bundle to install. WSATools handles APK file and APK Bundle association in Windows 11, so you can right-click on any Android file and install it using WSATools

Android Subsystem Progress for Windows 11

Microsoft's recent progress in Windows Multiple updates to the Windows Subsystem for Android have been released on 11, focusing on performance, camera experience, graphics, and more.

In the February update, Microsoft made several framerate-related improvements and observed a 10-20% improvement in framerates on ARM-based PCs running the Android Windows subsystem.

Traditional x64 PCs, on the other hand, benefit even more, with 40-50% higher frame rates, which is a lot.

These improvements will be very appealing if you play Android games on Windows via WSA or rely on streaming services like Netflix.

Apart from performance and bug fixes, the WSA platform hasn’t changed much recently. One of the recent major updates brought Android 13 support to Windows 11, and Microsoft may be planning to release more Android 13 improvements in the coming weeks.

Future updates will mainly focus on audio experience or camera, performance, GPU, game control, etc.
