How to insert a picture into a comment box in Microsoft Excel
If you have an Excel worksheet that contains a list of products, and you want to attach a picture to each product, this will make Excel look clunky. But how do I add an image as a comment? Are they only visible when you hover over them? Another scenario would be to have a list of employees and append their photos to their data rows. In this case, inserting an image in the form of a comment will also serve you well. So now the question is, is it possible to insert an image in the comment box of an Excel document? Sample Scenario
Suppose we have an Excel sheet containing the list of Presidents of India since 1987. We must include a photo of each president and his/her name in the comments box. Let's see how to accomplish this in the following steps.
Solution
Step 1: First, select the cell where you want to attach the image as a comment.
Step 2: Nowright click on the cellcell and click Insert comment option.
Step 3: A comment box will now appear on your Excel worksheet. In the corner of the comment box, you will see 8 small squares. These are for resizing the comment boxes and formatting them.
Step 4: You can right-click on any of the 8 small squares . From the right-click context menu, click the "Set Comment Format" option.
Step 5: In the Format Comment window, first click on the Colors and Lines option Card.
Now click on the drop down menu namedColor.
Now, from the drop-down options, at the very bottom, click on the optionFill Effects.
Step 6: Under the "Fill Effects" window, click the "Picture" tab.
Next, click on the buttonSelect Image to browse for the image you want to insert into the comment box.
Step 7: You will now have 3 options to select your image. You can browse your computer and find the image, or you can search for the image online, or you can get the image from OneDrive if it exists.
In the example below, since I already have the image saved on my machine, I selected theFrom a file option. Click the Browse button to select an image from your machine.
Step 8:Navigate to where the image is located and clickto insert image and finally click the "INSERT" button.
Step 9: You will now return to the Fill Effects window. Click the OK button.
Step 10: When you return to the Format Comment window, click the OK button again.
Step 11: That’s it. If you look at your Excel sheet now, you can see that the image you selected has now been successfully inserted into your comment box. You can see this image whenever you hover over the cell where the comment is inserted.
Step 12: If you want to change the image in the comment box, right click on the cellcell and click "Edit Comment " option.
Step 13: You will now have the little squares in the corners of the comment box, just like you did in step 4. You canright-click on one of the boxes and follow the same steps mentioned in step above to select a new image for your comment box.
Step 14: If you want to add text on top of the image in the comment box, just enter the text in the comment box is enough.
Step 15: If you now click elsewhere you can see that the text has now been successfully added to the image in your comment box top. enjoy!
