Clubhouse launched in 2020 as a social network dedicated to live audio chat, an idea that has since been copied by rivals like Twitter and Reddit. Now, Clubhouse has announced major changes to its app, which will now allow users to interact via text chat in a voice room.
Clubhouse wants everyone to be able to join in real-time conversations via voice or text. The new feature, called Room Chat, works similarly to what apps like Zoom and Skype offer: a text chat area in a live broadcast room.
Don’t want to miss the moment to share a killer joke? Want to enter a song request? Want to react to emojis? You can now place it in room chat.
Voice room moderators will be able to delete chat messages, and creators can choose to disable text chat when starting a new room. Viewers will also have the option to report comments and provide feedback to moderators to ensure text chat is a safe space, Clubhouse said. However, moderating comments in a room with hundreds or thousands of people is certainly not an easy task.
Rooms with text chat enabled will have a dedicated icon in the bottom left of the screen. After the live audio ends, anyone listening to the room's replay can read all messages sent during the chat. The social network also anticipates that the new feature will help creators conduct "quick polls or questions" in live chats with multiple people.
Earlier this year, Clubhouse expanded its platform to the web so that anyone can listen to live chats. However, it is not currently possible to join as a speaker via the web.
The new in-room chat feature is now rolling out to users in the latest version of the Clubhouse app, which can be found on the App Store.
The above is the detailed content of Clubhouse now supports text chat in voice rooms, allowing users to interact in more diverse ways. For more information, please follow other related articles on the PHP Chinese website!
