Windows 11's voice recorder improves with upgrade
Since the new operating system came out, the Redmond-based tech giant has been working on revamping every corner of it.
This means applying the same stylish Windows 11 design to all apps and elements of the operating system, making it feel more like a whole and not just a makeover.
Now the Voice Recorder app has been modernized and brought to 2022 with the same Windows 11 design language that everyone fell in love with.
Say hello to the new and improved Voice Recorder
After Paint, Clock, Notepad, Task Manager, Snipping Tool, Photos and Media Player, Microsoft decided to redesign the Voice Recorder.
Not only has the design changed, but so has the name of the software. Voice Recorder is now Sound Recorder for Windows Insiders in the Dev channel, and the update is available for public testing in the Microsoft Store.
Combined with this stylish new look are icons, controls and layouts. There's also a new audio visualization during recording and playback that looks a bit inspired by iOS.
In addition to all the bells and whistles, the tech giant has also added the option to change the recording device and select the file format within the app.
So if you have multiple microphones connected to your PC, you can select the one you need directly on the home screen of the app.
Also, different recording formats are available in the settings, you can choose m4a, mp3, wma, flac and wav.
The audio recorder also allows you to change the audio quality and choose a theme (Light, Dark or System).
Where can I get a new audio recorder?
If you want to give it a try, download the new voice recorder from the Microsoft Store in just a few clicks.
That is, if you’re not a Dev Channel Insider yet, in which case you already have it after the latest update, along with the new Task Manager for Windows 11 22H2.
