Top 10 list of features people wish Microsoft Teams had

Microsoft has multiple feedback centers for different services, such as Windows and Edge DevTools. It also has a dedicated 365 service for Microsoft such as Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, PowerPoint, etc. The feedback portal launched as a preview in October 2021 but already has thousands of users.

We recently took a look at the top 10 features people have requested for Windows 11, and today, we’re doing the same for the Microsoft team, thanks to the service’s curation and dedicated feedback section.

For the purposes of this article, we will only list "open" questions, sorted by number of votes. So even though the top-rated item on the portal is about adding private replies to Teams chats, Microsoft has already rolled out the feature since about two months ago. Likewise, some features now in preview will be excluded. Without further ado, let’s get started!

1. Allow multiple Teams accounts to be used simultaneously - 39,300 times Support

   Microsoft: If you have an existing post that you want to appear in a different channel, you can edit the message and cross release. This will add the top posts to different channels but will not include the full set of replies. We will keep this request in mind as we develop cross-posting capabilities in the future and update when the status changes.
7. Enable full-text search for Wiki - 11,100 people support
   Microsoft: This feature is now backlogged. We'll update you when we have more details to share.
8. Allow backup, export, print, archive options - 11,100 people support
   Microsoft: Thanks for your continued feedback, the team is reviewing this project. We will share updates as soon as they are available.
9. Enable file downloads that let you choose a destination - 10,900 votes
   Microsoft: The team is actively developing this feature. We will provide further updates as the development process progresses. Please keep voting and giving feedback!
10. Added the ability for meeting participants to draw on a shared screen - 10,800 people backing it
    Microsoft: Thanks for your continued feedback, we're excited to announce that this feature is under development. We will share updates as soon as they are available.

Overall, it’s great to see Microsoft representatives responding positively to customer feedback. When we did our roundup of the top 10 features people have requested for Windows 11, it was a little disappointing to see that Microsoft didn't even respond to some threads. Fortunately, that's not the case for the Teams development team.

That said, it's clear that Teams is missing a ton of major features that a lot of people obviously use in their daily workflow. These have become even more important recently due to the new era of hybrid working and online collaboration. While Microsoft appears to be working on many of the features missing from the top 10 list, the release window appears to be tentative. However, this is understandable considering the (potentially) large amount of stuff the development team has in its backlog.
