Windows 11 adds some new buttons for voice input, emoji panel, clipboard panel, and touch keyboard
Microsoft is testing a series of new buttons added to the language switcher panel. This could be part of a new experimental feature the company says it will test in Dev Channel builds.

#Some users discovered this change on the current Dev Channel version of the operating system (build 22557). They noticed some new icons popping up on the panel. If you're wondering what they do, here's the order of the icons from left to right: Voice Input, Emoji Panel, Clipboard Panel, and Touch Keyboard.
Click this icon to open its related panel. The new button isn't available in my Windows 11 virtual machine, but that's not surprising. A common practice at Microsoft is to randomly enable these features for some users, wait for feedback on it, and then decide whether these options should be allowed in beta channel and release channel builds, and ultimately make them final.
For reference, this is what the language switcher looks like in the Windows 11 Stable Channel.

Looking at the new buttons again, you may notice that these are not new options, this is because they have been around for a long time in different forms a period of time. In fact, the icons for these buttons are also the same ones that already exist in Windows. You may have seen them if you used the hotkeys that correspond to their functions.

For those unfamiliar with keyboard shortcuts, here is a brief reminder of the combinations.
- Voice Input - Win H
- Clipboard - Win V
- Emoji Panel - Win .
- Can be accessed by clicking on the icon on the taskbar Touch keyboard.

While these new buttons may not seem exciting to those who rely on keyboard shortcuts, they will be useful for those who use touch screen devices. They may be a time saver for users or mouse-centric users. I've said it many times, but I'll say it again, Windows 11 seems to be designed for touch screens, not regular PCs. See centralized icons on the taskbar, a new start menu, a widget panel, a quick settings pane with toggles and sliders, it all adds up.
The language switcher panel only appears on the taskbar if you have 2 or more language packs installed in Windows 11. It allows you to quickly switch between the languages you want to type in, so it's very useful. But these new buttons aren't exactly language-related, are they? They might be suitable for general input, so I thought it might be a good idea to allow single-language users to access the new functionality as well.

If so, where could Microsoft add the button? I mean, if the language switcher icon is missing, the panel must be accessible from somewhere else. The easiest way to place buttons is to add them to an existing section, such as the quick settings panel that pops up when you click the Wi-Fi/LAN, Volume, Battery icon. It does have some space at the bottom for new icons. For a less cluttered approach, placing the button in the panel that pops up when the "Show hidden icons" button is clicked would also work.
