Microsoft released a public beta of its OneDrive sync utility for macOS in December with native support for the Apple Silicon platform. Now, three months later, the company has finally made the update available to all Mac users, who can now benefit from OneDrive running natively on the M1, M1 Pro, and M1 Max chips. OneDrive 更新为所有 Mac 用户带来原生 M1 支持

As detailed by a Microsoft employee, OneDrive sync for Apple Silicon is now available on "GA," which is what the company says will make the software available to everyone. Native support for the Apple Silicon platform comes with OneDrive for macOS version 22.022. One override would be for users to be able to check if their installed OneDrive app is up to date by accessing OneDrive preferences.

We are very excited to announce that OneDrive now runs natively on Macs with Apple silicon. This means OneDrive will take full advantage of Apple's silicon performance improvements. We realize this feature is highly anticipated and requested, so we're excited to announce general availability starting with build 22.022.

Updated so that apps running natively on Apple Silicon chips can take full advantage of ARM architecture, delivering greater performance and energy efficiency. Use of this software will reduce your MacBook's energy consumption, thereby extending battery life.

There are other companies updating their cloud platforms to run natively on M1. Earlier this year, Dropbox released a beta version of its macOS app that supports Apple Silicon, but it's not yet available to the public. Google Drive has now been updated to support M1 in October 2021.

On a related note, Microsoft also released a new beta version of OneDrive for macOS, allowing users to move their desktop and document folders to the company's cloud platform. More details can be found on the official OneDrive blog.
