Windows 11 update leaks: Modern volume mixer, experimental tools, and new File Explorer

Another major update is coming to Windows 11 later in 2023. While we already have a pretty good idea of what's coming next for the operating system, thanks to the preview release notes, it appears Microsoft is working on some of the recently discovered exciting new features in beta builds.
New Volume Mixer
To quickly change the volume for individual apps and browsers, click the volume icon to open the volume mixer. Accessible only through the Settings app, Windows 11 Volume Mixer allows you to change the volume of any open browser or app to increase the volume of a specific app.
Thankfully, Microsoft has finally tested a new modern volume mixer that can be accessed directly from the taskbar, similar to Windows 10’s volume mixer.

The tech giant has not spoken publicly about this new volume mixer, which is hidden in the code.
As you can see in the screenshot above, you can quickly turn the volume down or up on any open app, while making music apps like Spotify louder. Of course, you can also mute any app and make another app or system louder. The idea is to make sound management in Windows 10 easier.
The public can't test Windows 11's new volume mixer because it's hidden. That's because it's still in development and Microsoft isn't ready to talk about it yet.
Experimental Tools: New ways to unlock functionality?
Microsoft is testing a new option called "AllowExperimentalFeatures" in the Windows Update -> Windows Insider Program page.
As the name suggests, AllowExperimentalFeatures appears to finally allow testers in the Windows Insider Program to turn on features that have been disabled by the company.

Implementation isn't complete yet, but there's a chance this could become the official way to toggle features buried in the operating system when A/B testing isn't enough.
New File Explorer with deeper ties to Microsoft 365
Windows 11 also gets a new File Explorer that features a XAML-based homepage and Microsoft 365 integration.
The rounded corner design language continues the style of Windows 11, and the address bar and search bar on the new homepage have been updated. At first glance, the redesigned File Explorer looks more like a Microsoft 365 dashboard or web browser than a traditional file manager.

There is a new "Recommended Files" tab when When you select any file, the tab uses Microsoft 365 to recommend similar files. File Explorer lets you view email threads, comments, conversations between team members, and when files were shared among colleagues.
According to sources, Microsoft is considering bringing Microsoft 365 features to File Explorer.
This is not possible using the existing shell, which is why the new File Explorer uses a web-based XAML design that allows users to access Microsoft 365 content directly within the file management interface and uses The new feature of "Tags" organizes all your content.
