Microsoft does not release operating system usage information, so third-party services track changes in operating system usage share. The numbers provided by the service are not exact: sources and methodologies differ. In this case, they do provide information about trends.

Windows 11 jumped from 16.1% of all tracking systems in January 2022 to 19.3% of all systems in February 2022. The latest version of Windows 10, 21H2, increased its usage share from 12.1% in January 2022 to 21% in February 2022. Previous versions of Windows saw a corresponding decline in usage share during that time.

Many devices are still using versions of Windows 10 that are no longer supported. According to AdDuplex's pie chart, Windows 10 version 2004 accounts for 7.9% of all systems, even though it ended support in June 2021.

AdDuplex’s data is provided by approximately 5,000 Microsoft Store apps that use the company’s SDK. Microsoft Store is only available on Windows 10 and 11.

Statcounter, a company that provides counters for websites, reports that Windows 11 usage share has also jumped. According to the company last month, Windows 11 user adoption rate was 2.6%. The company said Windows 11 had a market share of 7.88% this month. Windows 10 still maintains the dominance of Windows operating systems, accounting for 75.44% of the market share.
