Be aware that KB5014697 is actually a mandatory cumulative update that contains the June 2022 Patch Tuesday security updates for vulnerabilities discovered in previous months.

This cumulative update includes approximately 35 improvements and fixes, including new Windows Spotlight for Desktop functionality.

Similar to the Windows Spotlight feature on the lock screen, Windows Spotlight for Desktop automatically rotates different Bing backgrounds on your desktop.

The Redmond company didn't provide much information about what to expect from the update, other than to say that it addresses security issues with the Windows operating system.

This means it also:

• Fixes an issue where display brightness is not maintained after changing display modes.
• Resolved an issue that caused file copying to be slower.
• Resolved an issue affecting the rendering of default widget icons on center-aligned taskbars.
• Fixed an issue where focus was not automatically given to the search box when you selected the Start menu and started typing.

As we said, there's not much that can be done as far as KB5014697 is concerned, but everyone is certainly thankful that these ongoing issues are finally being resolved.
