According to US media reports, a document released by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on its website shows that millions of cars produced by South Korea’s Kia Motors Cars equipped with airbag inflators warned by regulators Kia reported in 2016 that about 4 million vehicles were subject to recalls over the past 16 years, including vehicles with airbag issues.

Previously, NHTSA requested the recall of ARC in Knoxville, Tennessee. Automotive produces approximately 67 million air bag inflators. Regulators said the inflators were defective and could endanger driver and passenger safety. At least one incident occurred in which two people were killed and several others injured. However, ARC rejected NHTSA's request, saying they found no inherent flaws in extensive field testing.

According to the editor’s understanding, Kia Motors has not yet commented on the matter, but earlier they stated that they were aware of and were evaluating NHTSA’s ARC recall request. It is worth noting that Kia is not the only affected car brand. At least 50 models of 15 car brands are equipped with problematic airbag inflators.
