The computer version of Microsoft’s Bing chatbot will soon support voice questions
Bing voice mode will soon be added to the desktop PC version of the Edge browser. Users select the microphone button on the Bing chat box and ask questions via voice, just like on Edge for mobile.
Currently Microsoft says the chatbot supports English, Japanese, French, German and Mandarin Chinese, though the company also notes that other languages are currently "under development."
We have previously reported that the voice assistant Cortana, which is still available on Windows 10 systems, may soon withdraw from the stage of history, and Microsoft has decided to completely remove it from Windows systems later this year. So this could be one step in replacing that feature.
Now, Cortana allows users to use voice commands to operate some functions and applications that come with the Windows system. However, Microsoft has built the Bing bot and its AI Copilot smart assistant into the Windows 11 system to replace old functions that have obviously fallen behind the times and have stalled update development.
When Microsoft’s Windows Copilot is released to the public, it will be placed in the Windows 11 taskbar similar to Cortana. It can receive simple questions from users, summarize what you are currently browsing, or make adjustments to your PC settings.
